Top Tips to Relieve Denture Pain

Since its inception in to the world of medical science, dentistry and dentures have traveled a long distance. Though it has done so but still the dentures pains are there to haunt the person using it. Ill-fitted dentures are just like a small stone in your shoe, which would not let you, have your piece of mind until and unless thrown out. Denture pains occur, basically, due to the denture plates which requires a remade and a recast; in fact, after every 4 years it needs refitting. If this is not done, serious problems may arise.

Following are some of the tips which surely would relieve you from denture pains:

  • Soften your diet. If you have new dentures, select easy-to-chew and soft foods like ground meat, rice, poached fish and pasta. Avoid tough meats and crusty breads.
  • A minute or two every day gum massage would help the tissues to toughen up and eventually make a stronger and perfect base for the dentures. For this purpose, use soft brushes and brush your gums in a circular motion.
  • Use a saltwater, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 cup warm water, rinse and swish your mouth. Do not swallow the rinse and spit the rinse out.
  • Go without your dentures if you are having problem them and do not wear them until and unless you have consulted your dentist.
  • For pain relief, you can also use over-the-counter painkiller like Orajel.

However, if the pain is still there, it is recommended that you contact your dentist immediately.
